Dhāraṇā is a Sanskrit word translated as "holding steady", "concentration" or "single pointed focus". If it could be visualized, I think it would look something like this!

Dead Space in Front of Tokyu Yoga Station
ykanazawa1999 posted a photo:
This picture was taken in front of Tokyu Yoga station.
A leftmost lane of the road is blocked by poles. There is a historical reason behind the scene.
There is a narrow road where I am standing. The road in the photo was connected to the narrow road once. The leftmost lane was used in those days. A new road was open in 1994, and became the main street. It exists on my left. The narrow road is a one-way street now, and does not accept cars from this intersection anymore. They blocked the leftmost lane to make sure no car goes into the wrong way to the old narrow road.

Monsoons and Meteorites and Morning.

We had planned on watching the Perseids meteor shower the previous evening...found a great area that had full exposure to the sky at about 8 thousand feet in the Carson National Forest about 20 miles outside Taos. The sky was clear except for some darkness on the western horizon..With Lauras help I pitched the tent on a slight slope but not much at all really. I figured it might be good to be on a slight incline since I had noticed the ground was still wet from some previous precipitation but still, I just could'nt wrap my head around the idea that it could rain at all in New Mexico in the middle of August on such a enchanting evening..
I had forgotten to bring a ground cover for the tent but felt like it would be Ok since I was in New Mexico in the middle of August.
No one told me August was Monsoon season in New Mexico.
Being fully exposed to the sky that night allowed Laura and I to experience the full force of a Monsoon rain...The lighting and thunder was a perfect accompaniment to the huge rain drops that were exploding on the surface of our little two person tent. With the water coming down so hard we were sure we would eventually feel the dreaded moisture around the edges of the tent seams on the ground and above us on the seams of the roof of the tent. Once that starts it is only a matter of time before the process of osmosis takes over and things start getting wet on the inside.
Apparently the indian spirit of rain looked down on these two nave spirits and granted us a repreve. In fact, we stayed perfectly dry as did the tent, (except for the outside surfaces) the tent had not gotten soaked at all on the ground.. The storm persisted for several hours and around 3 am I unzipped the tent and looked out side to see a fog diffused milky way unfolded against a very black sky.. I stood there for all of five minuites. One Meteor flew over..ha!
I yawned, turned around and slid back into the tent and fell asleep.
The next morning I watched as Laura started her practice as the fog and dew lifted out of the little valley we had discovered.
