This Stretch is AMAZING for anyone with tight chest muscles, shoulders, abs and illiopsoas (muscles of the front of the body). This stretch is amazing because it stretches the front of the body while strengthening the back (so awesome!) It helped me a lot with the tightness in the front of the body, and it can help you too! Just be careful doing it. Note that some instructors encourage you to keep your knees locked and to come out of this pose with your back straight however if you have problems with dizziness (low blood pressure, low blood sugar) you will want to slightly bend the knees and come up slowly one vertebra at a time. I have low blood sugar and problems with dizziness so I teach from this perspective. You will also want to keep the knees bent if you have lower back problems or injuries. This pose is relaxing and relieves tension and stress. It massages the inner organs and reduces abdominal and back pain during menstruation.
